Position: Lead Teacher
Position Summary: Provides direct instruction to youth in an alternative school for adjudicated and at-risk youth. Develops and implements lessons plan.
Duties:
Instruct students in all aspects of program’s designated curriculum
Evaluate student performance and issues grades; Provides crisis prevention and intervention
Maintain student files and records of attendance; Create and maintain classroom conducive to learning/ Maintain classroom discipline and institute student disciplinary measures
Communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and other staff regarding students’ needs, progress, and problems/ Revise curriculum and lesson plans; Prepare student materials
Participate in treatment planning for clients; Monitors and documents client behavior and performance; when necessary; redirect clients to more positive behaviors.
Model socially appropriate behavior for clients; Provide client mentoring and tutoring on an ongoing basis; communicate and discuss progress or concerns regarding client’s behaviors to WCS-Project Excel colleagues; Generates IETP and other documents required by MPS
Qualifications: Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in vocational content area (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education); previous teaching experience; non-teaching experience ability to work with a variety of people and foster positive working relationships; strong decision-making and problem-solving skills; valid driver’s license and insured automobile.
Hours: (30-hours per week) with the possibility of moving to 40-hours per week

Schedule: $28,000 - $31,000 annually
